The Opportunity

As an Associate Professor in Exercise Physiology, you will be a key member of the Exercise and Sports Science academic team in the School of Health Sciences. You will manage and lead a range of academic activities, focusing on the development, design, and delivery of teaching activities within Exercise & Sport Science and Clinical Exercise Physiology courses. Your role will be pivotal in building and maintaining relationships external to the University, fostering a collaborative teaching environment, and contributing to the strategic objectives of the University. In this role you will:

• Lead the renewal and expansion of Clinical Exercise Physiology to meet future workforce needs.
• Coordinate and deliver scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate courses, utilising emerging technologies and simulation-based education.
• Facilitate quality work-integrated learning experiences for students, ensuring a scaffolded, connected, and supported pedagogical experience.
• Develop and maintain productive links inside the University and with the wider Tasmanian community, industry, and profession.

What’s Required

• Completion of a PhD Degree in a relevant health discipline (or equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience) and Current registration as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
• Experience as an accredited exercise physiologist, part of a multidisciplinary allied health team, or in the high-performance sport industry.
• University-level curriculum development and teaching experience.
• Leadership skills in academia, with a record in team building, fostering educational excellence, and facilitating staff career development.
• Superior interpersonal and organisational skills, with a record of building and maintaining effective links with the discipline, profession, industry, and community.
• Commitment to impactful research in allied health, demonstrated by quality publications, conference presentations, success in securing funding, and translating evidence to practice
