As a result of the 10-year partnership between UNSW Sydney and Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW), a new research centre focused on improving the care and wellbeing of cancer survivors will be established. The Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship will implement evidence-based interventions to improve quality of life for cancer survivors and will inform practice, services and policy across NSW, acting as a model for other Australian states and territories as well as internationally.
Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at UNSW, the Inaugural Director will be responsible for developing, embedding, communicating, measuring and achieving the Centre’s academic and operational vision, strategies and goals, in overall alignment with the Faculty’s Health 25 Strategy and UNSW’s vision and strategy. The Director will also be responsible for building and nurturing strong collaborative partnerships with major strategic stakeholders, including the Cancer Council of NSW (CCNSW), and the Faculty’s Cancer Theme Principal and Director of the Centre for Future Health Systems, amongst others. The Director will have an excellent understanding of research impact, strategic acumen, and the leadership needed to engage a diverse array of stakeholders across academia, MRIs, charities, government, and funding agencies. The Director will be an experienced, accomplished researcher, with the strategic vision to secure long-term funding beyond the initial 10-year funding as well as an inspirational advocate with the passion to build the profile of the Centre into the future.
