An exciting full time maternity cover post for 12 months, has arisen for an experienced veterinary surgeon (MRCVS) with a passion for inspiring undergraduate students in all aspects of small animal practice. Experienced clinicians who wish to move into education and develop their teaching expertise within a multidisciplinary department are encouraged to apply.
The role
The primary focus of the role will be to support the clinical teaching across the curriculum, preparing our students for their final year rotations. The role will have a strong focus on small group practical teaching, alongside lectures and tutorials. There may be a requirement to travel to our offsite partners.
We will be happy to consider a job-share role at minimum 0.5 FTE.
About you
The successful appointee will be a UK registered (or eligible to register) veterinary surgeon and will bring a strong understanding and experience of first opinion practice (ideally across species) to complement existing staff in their ability to deliver high quality teaching across the curriculum. A teaching qualification is not essential but prior experience of teaching veterinary undergraduates would be an advantage. Those with extensive experience of supporting new graduates are also encouraged to apply. A post-graduate certificate or qualification in subject specialism is desirable.
Enthusiasm, adaptability and creativity are essential, alongside excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
What we can offer
In return we offer a generous salary with a 10% salary uplift for MRCVS registered applicants, pension, relocation assistance, flexible working options including job share, access to world-class leisure facilities on campus, a range of travel schemes and supportive family friendly benefits including an excellent on-site nursery.
Further Information
To apply please attach your CV and a cover letter evidencing your suitability against the essential criteria required for this role as outlined in the person specification.
Interviews are scheduled to be held online.

Induction Commitment
We wish to create the conditions for success for our new starters in the Vet School, by facilitating their growth and development within our institution. To achieve this, we have established the following guiding principle for all new staff members who are on a local/Guildford contract, effective for all new starters.
New staff are expected to be physically present on campus for a minimum of four days each week during their initial four to six months of employment. The duration will vary depending on individual with minimum duration being 4 months and maximum duration being 6 months. This requirement is adjusted on a pro-rata basis for part-time staff members. For those on remote contract, a separate programme of on-campus commitment is being developed.
