As an organisation we have more than 25,000 current students; 16,000 undergraduates plus 9,000 postgraduates and researchers, employing in excess of 5,900 full time equivalent staff, and with an annual turnover of over £700M.

The role

Due to the absence of a colleague in the Transactions Team we are looking for someone with a broad experience of purchasing and payment services to support the smooth running of our day to day operations on a fixed term basis. We are looking for someone who will:

  • Be able to provide the technical guidance to ensure all aspects of purchasing and payments remain compliant with UK legislation.
  • Have experience working in a large and diverse organisation.
  • Work collaboratively within the Transactions teams, but also engage with customers across the University to provide expert advice and guidance.
  • Support the deliver of existing business improvement projects.

About you

You’ll have a proven track record of efficiently organising work activities and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

You will be able to clearly demonstrate excellent communication skills, common sense and enjoy working as part of a busy team.

You will have the technical knowledge to support employment status determinations, UK rules on expenses and payments, basic import and export processes, an appreciation of UK procurement legislation, and be confident using Excel and data analysis to solve problems.

Working here

As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are pro-active in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work.

We welcome applications from candidates who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment. We encourage applications from candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, people who identify as LGBTQ+; and people with disabilities. Committed to supporting our staff and students, we are open to a flexible working approach. We give full consideration to applicants that wish to work flexibly and those who have taken a career break. We have adopted a hybrid working model across the university combining working from home with regular time on campus.

Additional benefits include a generous holiday allowance of 30 days annual leave, plus a further 6 university closure days and 8 UK bank holidays (pro-rata).
