Applications are invited for appointment (two posts) as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the area of Early Earth and Planetary Geology in the Department of Earth Sciences, The University of Hong Kong (Ref.: 527453), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.  

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Geology or Earth Sciences. They should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching and research in Geology. Preference will be given to those whose research interests focus on Early Earth and Planetary Geology, especially those with work experience on Martian geology.  Applicants should also have a strong interest in teaching, with a commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and mentoring graduate students; and strong interpersonal and communication skills. This appointment provides an outstanding opportunity for research and teaching collaboration across a broad range of disciplines.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
