About the opportunity
The Assessment Lead (Medicine) is responsible for developing and managing assessments in the Sydney Medical Program. This role oversees the administration and compilation of academic content and assessment materials prepared by academic staff, ensuring all necessary documentation is maintained in university systems such as Sydney Student and the LMS. The position involves coordinating the assessment team to support academic staff, initiating service improvements, and focusing on achieving best practice standards. Additionally, the role provides reporting and analysis on assessment matters and ensures compliance with University and Faculty policies and procedures.
Working under broad supervision, the Assessment Lead independently performs tasks to achieve set goals, plans and prioritizes tasks, and selects appropriate methods of work. As a subject matter expert, the Lead is the first point of contact for their area of expertise, resolving routine matters and collaborating with others to address complex issues. This role is pivotal in supporting the growth and development of the Sydney Medical School's assessment processes and services.
There is a requirement for this position to be on site. Limited hybrid working arrangements can be discussed with your manager if you are successful in this position.
Your key responsibilities will be to
- coordinate the production and administration of a wide range of assessments, including written and clinical examinations, and ensure timely publication of assessment information for students
- supervise the preparation and delivery of assessments, ensuring standards and consistency, and provide training for academic and clinical staff on operational management
- maintain and update processes and documentation related to assessments, academic integrity, special consideration, and results processing
- collaborate with various university units to ensure smooth operation of assessments and produce quality-assured student progress reports and feedback
- manage reporting on assessment systems, ensuring compliance with University and Faculty policies, and provide feedback on technical issues and process improvements
- actively participate in the FMH Community of Practice, supporting colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement and new initiatives within the assessment team and Education Unit
- undertake ad-hoc projects and other duties as required, in line with the role's key accountabilities and classification level.
About you
- tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- strong ability to develop and implement effective administrative processes with a background in governance and/or quality assurance
- demonstrated applied knowledge of university policies, procedures, and administrative processes within a tertiary environment
- high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially advanced Excel skills), and managing data across systems and platforms, including data analysis and reporting, working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas
- excellent organisational, time management, and workload management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines
- exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- knowledge of educational design and assessment in higher education, and administrative experience in a tertiary organisation.
