Our Strategic Development and Delivery directorate plays a big part in that future. Bringing colleagues together from across the University into one function to form service areas that include Insights & Decision Support; Strategy & Performance; Portfolio & Benefits; and Change & Improvement, the aim is to combine our specialist expertise and sector knowledge to help deliver our strategy ‘Vision 2028’ and beyond.  A great opportunity to inspire and bring influence, both to the role and wider university, as Head of Risk you will have the voice and the remit to make a real mark across the University in the years ahead. Indeed, you could soon be playing a huge role at the heart of a supportive and dynamic team that’s committed to helping us achieve our ambitious goals.

We will rely on you to proactively identify, assess and mitigate while working closely with the Planning & Performance team in Strategy & Performance. Aligning strategy and strategic priorities, articulating risk appetite in a complex Higher Education environment, and coordinating risk with schools, services, and our portfolio to provide assurance and confidence to our stakeholders – these are just some facets of this exciting opportunity.

To succeed, you will need proven experience in a risk function as an institutional-wide process and can demonstrate strategic influence and impact on a university or universities. You will also need the specialist knowledge it takes to drive building risk maturity and reporting at the university and enable colleagues to become confident practitioners of risk in their day-to-day activities to inform their activities. You will be confident in working closely with executive and senior leaders. We will rely on you to place continuous improvement at the heart of our approach to risk management.

Joining the Strategic Development and Delivery directorate means you’ll have access to a wealth of training, opportunities and exciting networking events. We’re committed to investing in our people. We give every member of our directorate access to the benefits from our membership of the Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA), Student Records Officers’ Conference, SUMS Consulting: Higher Education Consultancy and Prosci. You can look forward to a warm, sincere welcome, genuine camaraderie and mobility in an institution led with passion, visibility and purpose. Your impact, resilience and sense of collegiality will directly contribute to the University’s future and those of the students whose lives you will touch and change forever. We also offer a great range of benefits including pension, family friendly policies and an on-site nursery and gym at our Docklands Campus.
