About the opportunity
As part of the strategic initiatives of the University of Sydney we are seeking to appoint a Program Manager to join the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Strategy and Services (PVC ISS) team in the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Strategy & Services.
Reporting to the PVC Indigenous (Academic), you will contribute to the implementation of academic programs identified in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander strategy, currently One Sydney Many People. The role involves developing relationships by fostering connections with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and academic communities within the University, collaborating on curriculum development, supporting Indigenous knowledge and strategic engagement across the University and the higher education sector. The position supports the DVCISS's contribution to university committees that to support implementation of our broader university Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander strategies. Building positive working relationships and collaboration with Associate Deans Indigenous and other leadership teams across the University is a key function of the role.

Your key responsibilities will be:
- work collaboratively with the Pro Vice-Chancellor and other colleagues within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Indigenous Strategy and Services (DVC-ISS) portfolio
- lead a team within the PVC Indigenous (Academic) and play a key role in developing, coaching and mentoring staff
- foster strong relationships with academic and professional staff including Associate Deans, Indigenous and other academic leads throughout the University community to ensure program milestones are achieved
- manage program financials against budget and coordinate external funding opportunities
- develop and lead academic project streams ensuring they align with the overarching strategic objectives for the PVC, Indigenous (Academic)
- manage all program governance and reporting throughout implementation related to the PVC Indigenous (Academic)'s program of work
- contribute to reporting on a regular basis for internal governance and external agencies and undertake routine reviews of all key activities
About you
- proven experience in people leadership, program management and strategic consultation
- academic research/ teaching skills and a well-developed understanding of the higher-education sector
- tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
- ability to translate a strategy into operational plans and processes
- demonstrated cultural competence and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisation in the local regions
- well-developed report writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- strong project management skills including governance and compliance frameworks
- strong capability in financial reporting and budgetary management
- a current Working With Children Check.
