We are seeking an Senior Administrative Officer IV Mechanical, Electrical & BMS Manager, to work in the Estates Maintenance team with responsibility for specialising in providing integrated solutions for building operations, M&E maintenance, BMS management systems and energy efficiency. As Mechanical, Electrical & BMS Manager , you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective operation and optimisation of the University’s estate strategy, energy strategy and operational delivery of energy efficiency initiatives.The Mechanical, Electrical & BMS Manager will lead on the maintenance, design and implementation of all Mechanical, Electrical and BMS activities across various university properties. The Mechanical, Electrical & BMS Manager will collaborate with stakeholders, including facility managers, engineers, and technicians, to enhance mechanical & electrical system performance, energy efficiency, and building occupant comfort and overall compliance.

Reporting to the Head of Campus & Commercial Services or their Nominee, the successful candidate will work as part of a team in a busy, challenging, and highly automated environment.  The Estates Team provides support to both Maynooth University and our campus partners, St. Patricks College Maynooth across a variety of services including HVAC systems, mechanical and electrical, lighting and other operational systems on the estate. It is expected that the successful candidate will impact the operational effectiveness of mechanical and electrical systems, utilisation and improvement of the BMS, the quality of the facilities and the service provided in addressing issues that may arise. They should, therefore, have a working understanding of the differing challenges of each of these environments.

The Mechanical, Electrical & BMS will lead the existing on-site direct labour staff and oversee contractor performance to ensure that they are managed and maintained in accordance with best practice while facilitating campus activities, cognisant of ensuring business continuity and associated health & safety requirements, are in place. This includes support to On Campus accommodation (both North and South Campus, Full-Time and Term-Time). The current operation is a combination of direct labour in-house teams and outsourced contractor service provision. The Mechanical, Electrical & BMS Manager will provide leadership and oversight of in-house service provision and contractors where required, to ensure operational excellence. The role will form part of the management team within the Estates Office and the successful candidate will work closely with other senior managers to provide leadership and management with a focus on achieving continuous quality improvement, value for money and an integrated approach to service delivery across all Estates activities. On call responses will be required for this post, therefore on occasion a flexibility to working hours will be required.

Salary:

Senior Administrative Officer IV (2024) - €67,308 - €106,873 p.a (7 point scale)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
