About the opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Biostatistician to undertake statistical analysis of data collected in various research projects within SydneyMSK Flagship to assist researchers in the design of research studies whilst supporting the strategic research agenda of the Faculty of Medicine and Health. SydneyMSK's goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals by undertaking high quality research that promotes the delivery of efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based care. We aim to discover new ways to prevent, manage and cure these debilitating musculoskeletal and rheumatological conditions, and promote healthy ageing and physical activity.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- assist SydneyMSK researchers in the design of research studies such as cohort studies and clinical trials, including statistical analysis plans and sample size calculations for grant applications.
- undertake advanced statistical analysis and data visualisation to support various research projects focusing on musculoskeletal and rheumatological conditions
- contribute to the preparation of research publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles and plain English summaries for diverse audiences
- establish and maintain effective and positive working relationship with investigators, collaborators and stakeholders both internal and external to SydneyMSK
- ensure that study data is organised and securely stored and maintain privacy and confidentiality
- contribute to meetings, presentations and other related events
- Undertakes ad-hoc projects and other activities relevant to the role's key accountabilities as approved by the Manager and commensurate to the role's classification level.
About you
- hold educational qualification in relevant field e.g., Biostatistics, Public Health or Statistics (Postgrad qualification is desirable) and equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- demonstrated expertise and experience in advanced statistical analysis including multivariable regression, multilevel and mixed modelling, longitudinal analysis of panel data sets, and survival analyses
- proven ability to design, prepare and carry out complex experimental procedures, to interpret complex biological and technical data, to resolve existing problems and to identify potential problems
- demonstrated understanding of data management principles and regulatory requirements for clinical trials and medical research
- demonstrated ability in the area of interpersonal, planning and organisational skills including the ability to project manage and meet deadlines
- proven analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound judgement.
- proven experience with customer relationship management (CRM) database systems and high level computer literacy
- high level expertise with use of statistical software including one or more of STATA, R, SAS and/or others
- proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- ability to work independently as well as collaborate in team to produce results
