The Northern Ireland Artificial Intelligence Collaboration Centre (AICC) at Queen's University Belfast is seeking to appoint a research engineer to undertake collaborative research projects with Northern Ireland companies in the areas of visual analytics, data cleansing, time series analysis, machine learning, digital twins, predictive analytics or data analysis techniques.
The AICC is a £16.3M investment by InvestNI and the Department for the Economy that aims to increase the use of AI by companies in Northern Ireland. Delivered in partnership by University and Queen's University Belfast on sites in Belfast and Derry/Londonderry, the AICC offers an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join world class research activities, collaborating between academic AI researchers and companies to work on a range of challenging applied research projects.
About the person:
The successful candidate must have:
- A degree in computer science, electrical/electronic engineering, physics or related rea.
- Relevant experience to include:
- Development of practical and innovative solutions that incorporate artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques in a range of practical applications.
- Modelling, software or hardware implementation of artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques in the implementation of artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques.
- Detailed knowledge and demonstrable expertise in at least one of the following areas: visual analytics, data cleansing, time series analysis, machine learning, digital twins, predictive analytics or data analysis techniques.
- Proven track record of undertaking analyses, critical evaluation and interpretations of experimental data.
- Evidence of documenting technical work either through reports, briefing notes or formal publications.
- Practical problem solving skills, independence of thought and initiative.
- Ability to communicate complex information in English effectively in oral and written format.
- Ability to build relationships to develop internal and external networks.

This post is available for 42 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
