Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Veterinary Medicine. 15 months
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an important emerging enteric pathogen, and in developed countries is transmitted to humans mainly via consumption of meat from infected animals. This exciting project, funded by Science Foundation Ireland, will use a One Health approach to investigate HEV infection in humans, animals and the environment. It benefits from a network of experienced collaborators in the area of veterinary medicine, medicine, basic science, virology and environmental science.
We have a vacancy for a Research Assistant to aid in delivering this project. The successful candidate will carry out cell culture work, molecular biology including qPCR and work at biosafety levels 2 and 3. Fieldwork will also be involved, sampling animals and environmental sampling including wastewater. The successful candidate will have a BSc degree (H2.2 or higher) in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Virology or a related discipline. You will join an interdisciplinary team consisting of biologists and virologists, and gain experience in a range of laboratory techniques in an exciting research environment.
Salary Range: €31,462 - €38,688 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
