The Division of Microbial Ecology (DOME) is looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist. Welcome to our team!

Your personal sphere of influence:

We are committed to conduct excellent research in a motivating and intellectually stimulating environment. We are looking for a Senior Scientist with experience in chemical imaging (e.g. Raman-, Maldi Mass Spectrometry-, or NanoSIMS-imaging) and/or fluorescence microscopy including super-resolution microscopy. Experience in electron microscopy is an advantage.

The position is currently limited to 1 years, with the possibility of subsequent unlimited employment.

Your future tasks:

Your role will be support the analyses of structure-function relationships of microbiomes from environmental and clinical samples in collaboration with researchers from DOME using our state-of-the-art microbiome imaging instrumentation, which includes a NanoSIMS 50L, a Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) microscope, a point-scan and wide-field mid-infrared photothermal chemical imaging (MIP) device, and a super-resolution confocal microscope. Your responsibilities include advising on study design and sample preparation, imaging analysis of samples, collaborative data analysis and contributing to grant and manuscript writing. Additionally, you will contribute to grant and manuscript writing, disseminate results at national and international conferences, and assist in supervising students.

This is part of your profil:

  • PhD degree in a suitable field
  • Thematically relevant publications in international peer-reviewed journals,
  • Willingness to acquire new methodological skills required for the project.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of an international, collaborative research team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Permanent contract and fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 4.752,30 (14 times a year for senior scientists postdoctoral).
