Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) now invites candidates for the position of Associate Vice President (Global Engagement) which is expected to be filled as soon as possible.
Job Description
This strategic role is instrumental in shaping UIC's global presence and strategy, encompassing the development and nurturing of partnerships with universities, corporations, alumni, and stakeholders worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Global University Engagement: S/he will be at the forefront of developing and nurturing relationships with universities worldwide. This involves identifying potential partner institutions, initiating dialogue, and negotiating agreements that facilitate teaching and research collaborations; Ensure that these collaborations/partnerships are mutually beneficial and sustainable in the long term;
2. Global Corporate Engagement: S/he will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing partnerships with corporations on a global scale. This includes identifying potential corporate partners, negotiating agreements, and managing ongoing relationships. S/he will work closely with these partners to create opportunities that enrich our academic programs, such as collaborative research projects, internships, co-op programs, and guest lectures by industry leaders;
3. Global Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement: S/he will also be tasked with building and maintaining relationships with our alumni and other key stakeholders across the globe. S/he will develop strategies to engage our alumni in meaningful ways, including creating opportunities for alumni to contribute to our university; S/he will also coordinate efforts to keep alumni informed about the university's achievements and initiatives;
4. International Student Recruitment: S/he will play a crucial role in attracting and recruiting international students to our university. This involves developing and implementing strategies to effectively reach out to prospective students across different regions.
S/he reports to the Provost and other members of the senior management team to ensure alignment and integration of global engagement initiatives with the university's overall strategic plan.
Job Requirement
1. Education: The successful candidate must hold a PhD awarded by a globally recognized university, currently holds a senior academic position (at least at full professor level) in his/her institution;
2. Experience: Extensive track record in higher education, international affairs, or a related field, with a demonstrated track record of success in developing strategic partnerships and initiatives; Candidates with administration and management experience in international universities or familiar with the education systems in both Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland would be an advantage;
3. Skills: S/he must have a high level of communicative competence in English, while a strong ability in Chinese (Putonghua and/or Cantonese) is preferred; Exceptional communication and negotiation skills are required;
4. Knowledge: A deep understanding of the global higher education landscape is required. This includes familiarity with international academic standards, practices, and trends;
5. Personal Traits: A passion for international collaboration and a commitment to higher education are essential. The candidate must be adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Cultural sensitivity and a global mindset are also crucial.
Benefits
Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, education allowance for children, annual leave, generous relocation package, and comprehensive commercial insurance.
Appointment Terms
Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of three years. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
