Position Overview
The Centre for Indigenous Policy Research (CIPR) in partnership with the Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre (KALACC) invites applications for a senior research officer with proven quantitative and/or qualitative research skills and a demonstrated capacity to build strong relationships with First Nations communities and organisations. The Senior Research Officer works closely with the lead researcher as part of the research team working on a specific Kimberley based project, contributing to the design and implementation of research directions and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. Previous experience in Indigenous evaluation or community development in the Kimberley will be desirable but not essential. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
KALACC is the Kimberley region's peak Indigenous law and culture centre. Based in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia, KALACC supports the traditional cultural practices of the 30 language groups of the Kimberley region. CIPR is Australia's pre-eminent social science research body focusing on First Nations social and economic policy. CIPR is part of POLIS, the ANU Centre for Social Policy Research in the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS). POLIS is home to six other research centres, enabling CIPR to work across disciplines and sectors, including government, community, business and education. This interdisciplinary and collaborative space enables CIPR to address and make a difference in the challenges of today's society.
The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 57 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both. We also host 13 Australian Research Council Future Fellows and three ARC Laureates. A hub of vibrant activity, we host more than 270 lectures, concerts and exhibitions each year, most of which are open to the public. Our students, staff and graduates come from more than 60 nations, bringing a diversity of perspective to campus life.
