Your personal sphere of influence:
The University of Vienna stands at the forefront of Austrian institutions in securing EU and international third-party funding for research projects in a wide variety of disciplines and research topics, covering both basic and applied research.
The Research Services and Career Development Division is committed to further improving its pre-award services for these externally funded initiatives, with a focus on Horizon Europe EU programs, but also international funding.
This role will provide intensive pre-award support to university researchers to apply for and succeed in obtaining research funding.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a proactive, motivated individual with strong planning, organizational, and communication skills, who enjoys working as part of a team. The ability to collaborate effectively with both academic and research support staff in a diverse setting is crucial, in order to ensure comprehensive support services across the University. Previous experience is welcome but not required, as training will be provided based on the candidate's expertise. The position is based in the EU & International Funding Team, which is internationally staffed and uses English as working language.
This full-time position is initially a 24-month contract with the possibility of extension. Working hours: 40h, part-time can be considered.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in the team´s activities and engagement with university researchers, which means:
- Providing advice and reviewing research project applications, including pre-screening and budgeting of proposals.
- Providing support in solving general questions and problems related to research projects, both at pre- and post-award stages, in line with internal University regulations and funder guidelines.
- Organizing workshops, training and awareness-raising events focused on EU and international funding opportunities.
- Contributing to the overall work of the Research Services and Career Development Department and occasionally undertaking other relevant tasks and duties as required.
This is part of your personality:
- University Degree.
- Interest in EU and international research funding and research policies.
- A proven capacity to be proactive, to work and solve problems independently and to manage and prioritise the workload.
- Team working skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner with a diverse range of people.
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English. Knowledge of German is an advantage.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience in external funding acquisition and/or knowledge of research project management is an advantage but not a requirement, as training will be provided.

Fixed-term contract and fair salary: The salary is according to the collective bargaining agreement for general university staff IVa – Grundstufe: EUR 3.266,20 (paid 14 times a year); salary can increase with professional experience.
