Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to help Cranfield University staff and postgraduate students discover and access the library resources and services they need for their research and studies at our Barrington Library located at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom campus in Shrivenham.

About the Role

This interesting role covers a variety of important back-office functions. You will assist in a range of tasks associated with library acquisitions, document delivery and theses to ensure that content is fully discoverable and accessible via our library catalogue and other library systems. Following security clearance checks and training, you will also help ensure that our processes meet government requirements for storing and handling confidential documents.

You will also have an important customer-facing role, staffing our Library Welcome Desk and responding to enquiries in person and online via email or webchat.

About You

You should have a good general standard of education (to ‘A’ level or equivalent standard) and have experience in an appropriate library or service environment preferably within the higher education sector. You will be an organised individual with a flexible attitude. Your meticulous nature ensures accuracy in all tasks, particularly in data entry, where precision is key to delivering exceptional customer experience. Previous experience using SirsiDyni x Symphony, Talis Aspire, Koha, or similar products would be an advantage but are not essential as full training will be provided. You will also be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with our diverse team members and customers across the University.
