Description
The Division of Arts and Humanities, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research associate for the Family Business Histories Project.
Family Businesses are the pillars of economies in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) and their sustainability is crucial to the region. The Family Business Histories project aims to capture the stories behind some of the leading regional family businesses. In so doing, we examine reasons for their longevity, explore correlations between the founder stories and the business durability and look at underlying factors for entrepreneurial success specific to the MENASA region.
The Research Associate will report to the Abu Dhabi-based Principal Investigator (PI) and will assist the PI and other affiliated collaborators to develop the research project and carry out data analysis, write up and publication as a result of the ongoing research. The Research Associate position is based full time in Abu Dhabi and will provide research, and project support; including but not limited to preparation, collection, compilation, and analysis of research data and collaboration with other research professionals; and other duties as assigned.
The Research Associate will also be responsible for the conceptualization, coordination and implementation of the project’s “Spotlight” database, compiling a comprehensive online digital archive of family businesses across Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia and authoring and co-authoring respective entries.
For consideration, applicants need to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae with full publication list, statement of research interests and three letters of reference, all in PDF format. If you have any questions, please email Prof. Martin Klimke at mk4051@nyu.edu.
The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled.
