About the Role 

As the Education sector continues to thrive on ensuring 21st century skills due to digital technology having an ever-increasing importance in our daily lives, we have an exciting opportunity within the college as the Lecturer in Education (STEM). This is a multi-faceted role as it encompasses the development of innovative teaching material and multi-mode teaching delivery as well as making independent quality contributions to impactful quantitative research.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Contributing to the organisation, planning, delivery, and evaluation of teaching within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate topics/courses in Education with a focus on STEM (early childhood to year 12).
  • Undertaking and delivering impactful, ethical, high-quality research related to STEM education utilising quantitative research methods including longitudinal and/or large data sets.
  • Innovative teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience and support students with academic and/or other challenges impeding their academic progress.
  • Actively contributing to supervision of research student programs including embedding of research and data informed approaches.
  • Actively contributing to high performing multi-disciplinary teams with an education and research focus and the development of a respectful, trusting, and collaborative working environment.

About You 

To be successful, you are a passionate academic who is an expert in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and have demonstrated evidence of high-quality teaching in a tertiary environment, including involvement in topic coordination and curriculum design in STEM. In addition, you have completed a PhD, or equivalent qualification in relation to STEM.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Demonstrated evidence of a strong research track record including attraction of competitive external grants (for career stage) with a focus on quantitative methods utilising longitudinal or large data sets.
  • Demonstrated evidence of research translation and impact in STEM education (early childhood to year 12).
  • Demonstrated experience and successful track record (for career stage), in supervision of honours and higher degree students.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, and scholarship.
