Introduce:
Established in 1959 as the Department of Automatic Control in the Radio Department of Chongqing University, the School of Automation formally became independent in 1998. In 2023, the School’s Control Science and Engineering ranked 39th globally in the Shanghai Ranking’s World-Class Discipline Ranking, leading the way for Transportation Engineering which ranked 23rd. The School is guided by national strategic needs, focusing on distinctive research foundations. It has established seven research institutes and one engineering practice and innovation center, including the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Institute of New Energy and Smart Systems, Institute of System Intelligence and Control, Institute of Radio Energy Transmission Technology, Institute of Industrial Intelligence Technology and Systems, Institute of Smart Transportation and Intelligent Control, and Institute of Intelligent Perception Decision Control. The School boasts an outstanding faculty team comprising international Eurasian Academy of Sciences academicians, IEEE Fellows, globally highly cited scientists, national leading talents, and renowned domestic scholars. Among them, there are five national-level talents and over ten selections at the provincial and ministerial levels, with over 88% of the faculty holding senior titles.
Research and Development:
The School of Automation conducts high-level research in cutting-edge fields and has established five national and ministerial-level discipline platforms, including the International Joint Research and Development Center for Radio Energy Transmission Technology and Equipment, the Intelligent Control and Autonomous Collaboration Intelligence Base for Unmanned Systems, the Key Laboratory of Complex Systems Safety and Autonomous Control under the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of Information Physical Society Trusted Service Computing under the Ministry of Education, and the International Cooperation Joint Laboratory for Autonomous Unmanned System Security and Control. The School adopts a globalized and organized research paradigm, actively promoting international cooperation, and constructing a three-dimensional integrated academic cooperation and exchange network encompassing “International Research Platforms - International Excellent Journals - High-end Academic Conferences.” The School initiated the academic journal Journal of Automation and Intelligence, selected as a high-level new publication project by the China Association for Science and Technology. Faculty members serve as editors for top journals in the field of artificial intelligence, such as IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (impact factor 10.4), and hold positions on the Board of Governors of the IEEE SMC Society. Several faculty members also serve as editors for more than ten IEEE Transactions journals, including IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control and IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence. The School has hosted or co-organized several international conferences in the field of autonomous unmanned systems, Chinese control and decision-making, and Chinese process control.
Academic Programs:
The School offers complete education systems for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, including majors in Automation and Robotics Engineering. The Automation major is recognized as a national first-class program and hosts a doctoral program in Control Science and Engineering with a postdoctoral research station. The School also recruits and trains engineering doctoral students in Transportation Engineering and master’s students in Electronic Information and Transportation Engineering. The School of Automation aligns closely with the strategic development trends in the international control field, actively serving national strategic needs and local economic and technological development strategies. It focuses on distinctive research directions such as Advanced Control Theory and Applications, Intelligent Robotics and Autonomous Unmanned Systems, Smart Transportation and Cooperative Control Systems, Aerospace System Security Control and Intelligent Systems, and Radio Energy Transmission Technology and Systems. Since the beginning of the “14th Five-Year Plan,” the School has achieved significant growth in key indicators of scientific and technological innovation, undertaking more than 20 major projects including national defense and military projects, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s National Key Research and Development Program, and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation. In 2023, the annual research funding exceeded 100 million RMB. Breakthrough achievements have been made with over 200 papers published in journals such as Automatic and the IEEE Transactions series, with more than 50 papers selected as highly cited papers. Innovation achievements have won nearly 30 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological awards, including one first prize in scientific and technological progress from the Ministry of Education and one second prize in natural science from the Ministry of Education, and four first prizes in science and technology from Chongqing Municipality. The School has received international awards such as the IEEE Outstanding SMC Chapter Award and the IEEE SMC Best Associate Award. The school collaborates extensively with defense units such as China Weaponry and Equipment Group, China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, and Xichang Satellite Launch Center, making significant contributions to the successful launches of Chang’e-1, Chang’e-2, and the completion of biological popularization payload tasks for Chang’e-4. It has supplied a large number of high-level innovative and composite talents in the field of automation to society.

Hongshen Young Teacher

Benefits:
- For the first 3 years, the pre-tax salary of RMB 250,000/year, with additional performance-based rewards. After passing the mid-term assessment, performance-based salary will be implemented according to the professional position standards.
- Relocation allowance of RMB 200,000;
- Research start-up funds of RMB 100,000 for science, engineering, and medical sciences, and RMB 50,000 for humanities and social sciences;
- During the appointment period, if the candidates are selected for the national postdoctoral innovative talent support plan, salary will be increased during the funding period.
- Hongshen Young Teachers can independently choose to enter the postdoctoral mobile station. If they enter the postdoctoral mobile station and stay in Chongqing for work after completing the postdoctoral period, an additional subsidy of RMB 150,000 will be provided by the Chongqing municipal government.
