Position Overview

The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the School of Medicine and Psychology, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. Within the School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP) resides the Rural Clinical School (RCS). 

A key additional function of the RCS is to undertake research focused on rural health issues, such as rural medical education and rural workforce recruitment and retention. MChD students are supported by RCS staff and affiliates to undertake independent research projects in Phase 1 of the program and group research projects in Phase 2 of the program. Additionally, RCS research staff aim to support clinical staff in undertaking research projects informed by their clinical experience.

The Research Officer will be a member of the SMP, accountable to the Head, RCS. They will form part of a small team undertaking research within the RCS and will be required to work both independently and under the supervision of senior members of RCS staff in supporting research efforts. The successful candidate will be expected to work collegially, and develop and maintain effective and productive workplace relationships, with members of the RCS research team, other academic and professional School and College staff, students, honorary appointees, and industry and community stakeholders.

Please note: As a multi-campus School, the successful candidate may be required to travel between campuses. The position will ideally (though not necessarily) be based in one or more of the six RCS campuses in south east NSW, in alignment with Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMTP) requirements.
