We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Head of Research Operations (College of Social Sciences) in our Research Strategy & Services Division (RSSD).

Role Overview

You will lead a team dedicated to supporting the College of Social Sciences' research efforts. This pivotal role involves managing pre-award research support, compliance, grants setup, and contracts negotiation. You will report directly to the Assistant Director of RSSD and collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive the University's research performance to new heights.

The role provides an opportunity for you to lead and inspire a team of research support professionals, ensuring efficient management of research development, proposal support, budget preparation, compliance, and contract negotiations; and to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous professional development, and inclusive practice within your team and the wider RSSD.

You will act as a signatory for research contracts, ensuring robust frameworks for negotiation and compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and lead innovations to enhance research support services. The RSSD is committed to your professional development and so you will be supported to build strong external networks across the Russell Group, professional bodies, and the wider sector to promote best practices and secure influential partnerships.
