School: School of Architecture and Urban Planning
Introduce:
The School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University is one of the earliest institutions to offer architectural education in China, with a history dating back to 1937. It is the only national key university under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development after the reform and opening-up, and is one of the renowned “Old Eight Schools” of architecture in China. Currently, it is one of the largest and strongest architectural schools with the most comprehensive architectural discipline system in China.
The school offers three primary disciplines: Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, and Landscape Architecture. These disciplines are part of the national “Double First-Class” initiative. Urban Planning and Design (including Landscape Architecture and Design) is a national key discipline. Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, and Landscape Architecture have been selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate programs under the “Double Ten Thousand Plan.” They are also key disciplines in Chongqing and are recognized as national specialty programs.
The school boasts a comprehensive array of national, provincial, and university-level research platforms, including the “Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of New Technology for Contruction of Cities in Mountain Area,” the “Research Center for Cities in Mountain Area and Regional Environment” (jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development), the “Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Chongqing Municipal Key Laboratory of Construction Technology,” the “Chongqing 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center for Disaster Reduction and Safety of Cities in Mountain Area,” the “‘985 Project’ Innovation Platform for Construction and New Technology of Cities in Mountain Area,” and the Chongqing University Architecture Science Education Base (a national science education base).
The school has a teaching and research team of nearly 200 members who have achieved significant success in talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services. In recent years, the school has garnered a series of landmark innovative achievements in national-level scientific research projects, teaching outcomes, and the construction of national-level textbooks and classes. This has fostered a synergistic team structure composed of national leading talents, national young talents, and middle-aged and young academic and technical leaders or reserve talents, creating a thriving atmosphere for collective progress.
