Introduce:
The school holds primary discipline doctoral and master’s degree programs in Public Administration. In 2023, it was approved to establish a postdoctoral research station in Public Administration, fully building a comprehensive professional talent training system that spans “undergraduate-master’s-doctorate-postdoctoral.” Currently, the school has established five stable academic directions: Administrative Management, Public Economics and Public Policy, Social Organization and Social Security, Urban and Rural Public Governance, and Emergency Management. In the 2023 The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) Best Chinese Disciplines ranking, the school ranked 18th, placing it in the top 9% nationwide.
Over the past five years, the school has undertaken over 400 national and provincial-level projects, including major projects of the National Social Science Fund, key projects of the Ministry of Education’s Philosophy and Social Science Research, key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, key international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and key R&D projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology. It has published over 600 papers in high-level academic journals such as Public Management Review, Public Administration, Nature Communications, Journal of Public Administration, and Chinese Public Administration, received more than 20 provincial and ministerial-level excellent achievement awards, and gained over 20 commendatory comments from central and Chongqing municipal leadership.
The school has established a proactive planning and well-organized management system and structure in the organization and planning of high-level scientific research projects, research platforms, research teams, and the transformation of research achievements, fostering a positive scientific research environment and atmosphere.
In undergraduate education, the school covers Public Administration and Economics disciplines, including majors and directions such as Administrative Management, Human Resources Management in the Public Sector, Urban Management, Economics, and International Economics and Trade. All four undergraduate majors have been selected as national or provincial-level first-class undergraduate construction majors.
In professional degree education, the school offers two professional master’s degree programs: Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Social Work (MSW). In training and education for the government, the school serves as a training base for Chongqing municipal cadres and civil servants. The school has creatively designed and implemented an educational system that serves professional degree education, specialized education in public administration fields, and customized education on demand, covering multi-level training education for civil servants, professionals, and specialized management personnel.
In terms of academic research platform construction, the school has several research platforms including the Ministry of Education Strategic Research Cultivation Base—Regional Economic and Science & Education Strategy Research Center, Chongqing 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center—Local Government Governance Collaborative Innovation Center, Chongqing Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences—Public Economics and Public Policy Research Center (listed in the Chinese Think Tank Index “CTTI”), provincial and ministerial-level university philosophy and social science innovation team—Public Economics and Public Policy Research Innovation Team, Chongqing Science and Technology Strategy Research Base, Chongqing University Administrative Operation Guarantee Research Center, Chongqing University Institute of Intelligent Social Governance, and Chongqing University China Public Service Evaluation and Research Center (listed in the Chinese Think Tank Index “CTTI”).
The school actively expands international exchanges. In recent years, it has strongly supported faculty to attend international conferences and engage in visiting scholar exchanges abroad, creating favorable conditions to support students in short-term exchanges and further studies at prestigious foreign universities. The school has signed a dual master's degree joint training cooperation agreement with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University for the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and the Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR).
The school comprises four departments: Department of Administrative Management, Department of Public Economics, Department of Public Human Resources and Social Security, and Department of Land Resources and Urban Development Management. It has 70 full-time teachers, including one national-level talent, two national-level young talents, four provincial-level talents (including three distinguished professors), two provincial-level young talents, 20 professors, and 29 associate professors.

Hongshen Young Teacher
Application Requirements: Candidates should be doctoral graduates from other universities who possess an excellent academic background and achievements, have produced high-quality research outcomes, and demonstrate significant potential for innovative development.
Benefits:
- For the first 3 years, the pre-tax salary of RMB 250,000/year, with additional performance-based rewards. After passing the mid-term assessment, performance-based salary will be implemented according to the professional position standards.
- Relocation allowance of RMB 200,000;
- Research start-up funds of RMB 100,000 for science, engineering, and medical sciences, and RMB 50,000 for humanities and social sciences;
- During the appointment period, if the candidates are selected for the national postdoctoral innovative talent support plan, salary will be increased during the funding period.
- Hongshen Young Teachers can independently choose to enter the postdoctoral mobile station. If they enter the postdoctoral mobile station and stay in Chongqing for work after completing the postdoctoral period, an additional subsidy of RMB 150,000 will be provided by the Chongqing municipal government.
