We are looking for a PhD candidate in the field of Cultural heritage in and of Central Eurasia/the Middle East and Central Eurasia
Heritage is a dynamic concept encompassing cultural aspects of the past that are valued in the present. Museums and archives play a crucial role in shaping public narratives about identity and history. These institutions can both celebrate and erase aspects of the past, influencing how we understand ourselves and others. Museums in post-Soviet Central Eurasia often reflect ethno-nationalist perspectives, but also have the potential to foster dialogue and knowledge exchange. Examining the movement of cultural objects across borders can contribute to decolonizing and enriching our understanding of heritage.
