Tenure-Track/Tenured Faculty Positions Research Center for Data Management & Innovation

About the School

The Research Center for Data Management & Innovation of Nanjing University (hereinafter referred to as the "Center") is one of the first new research institutions built by Nanjing University in Suzhou. Taking “serving the national big data strategy and assisting the construction of Digital China” as its guiding ideology and basing on multi-disciplinary interconnection, the Center aims to advance the major construction on data management and data science, and to cultivate outstanding innovative talents who possess a high level of digital literacy, a comprehensive understanding of data management theory, and proficiency in utilizing data intelligence technologies and methods.

Both the Center and the School of Information Management of Nanjing University are responsible for the "Information Resource Management" "Double First-Class" initiative and "A+" discipline construction. The center currently has a high-level research team with 5 professors and 3 senior researchers, 3 of which are national-level leading talents. By inheriting the advantages of traditional information resource management research, the Center will further promote interdisciplinary integration and create new disciplinary growth in fields such as data elements and data governance, data intelligence and big data analysis, technological innovation and industrial intelligence etc.


The Center plans to globally recruit young scholars who aspire to work in the field of information resources management. This recruitment offers several open positions for tenure-track associate/assistant professors. For exceptionally outstanding candidates, higher positions will be available under consideration. The research directions include:

  1. Information Science
  2. Information Resource Management
  3. Technology Innovation Management
  4. Data Science and Data Management
  5. The Science of Science


The applicant should

  1. abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, and have a passion for teaching and research;
  2. abide by the ethics of teachers, uphold academic integrity, be willing to work diligently, with neither criminal record nor record in breaching the ethics and morale of teachers and/or academic integrity;
  3. have first-rate academic background: the applicant should have obtained PhD certification in relevant academic disciplines, have experience in studying and/or working at first-rate teaching and research institutions, and be knowledgeable in latest international frontier and development in the relevant research field(s).In principle, for Assistant Professors, a minimum of 2 years of academic research engagement after PhD graduation is required; for tenure-track associate professors, a minimum of 4 years of academic research engagement after PhD graduation is expected.
  4. have outstanding teaching abilities: the applicant should be able to teach core and frontline courses in the corresponding discipline, and have sound teaching methodology and strong verbal skills;
  5. demonstrate outstanding research output and potential: the applicant should have research accomplishments in his/her field of research, exhibit original research ideas, and have a clear vision for future research plans, showcasing strong academic potential in future.

Compensation Package and Support

  1. Annual salary based on the annual income system (specific details to be negotiated separately)
  2. Research start-up funding
  3. Qualification to supervise graduate students
  4. The university provides short-term lodging and housing subsidies. Applicants recruited can purchase commercial housing offered by the university at a special discount
  5. The university provides assistance with children’s schooling at primary and secondary school levels.
