Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences (Ref.: 526989), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree in a field closely related to Biology, Ecology, Biodiversity, and/or Marine Sciences, with at least 3 years’ teaching experience in tertiary institutions and a strong commitment to quality teaching. Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Lecturer.  They should have good interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English; and should be self-motivated, highly-organized and a good team player. Additionally, the appointee should have previous experiences in scientific outreach and communication, and ideally have an interdisciplinary and international network. Experience in recruiting or fundraising is beneficial.

The appointee is expected to collaborate with a Program Coordinator in developing a Taught Postgraduate Program, specializing in Marine Ecology and Conservation within the School of Biological Sciences. The first year of the position will involve curriculum development, student recruitment, and recruiting international collaborators to teach one of several offered courses. Additionally, the applicant is expected to assist in teaching one of the courses, which may be related to Ocean Biodiversity, Fisheries, Seafood: Mariculture & Trade, Conservation Genomics, Blue Carbon Ecosystems, and Sustainable Development.

The appointee will also be responsible for providing support for student's final research projects; knowledge exchange; and project/research development in the School. He/She will also be expected to perform any other duties as assigned. Priority will be given to those who demonstrate a strong track record of related teaching experiences, networking, research project management, and science communication.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of the basic salary.
