  • This candidate will be responsible for the design, development and testing of electrodes, transducers and devices and provide technical support and training.
  • The position uniquely suits a person with expertise in micro/nanofabrication, micro/nano characterisation particularly with MEMS devices.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative problem solver who is capable of applying engineering principles to solve difficult problems in the design and development process. The position suits a tenacious person with a demonstrated ability to find new ways to solve problems. In this role, you will have significant autonomy in suggesting solutions and trying new approaches while relying strongly on your engineering and physics knowledge. You will have the opportunity to be part of a thriving team and contribute to the development of next-generation medical devices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, fabricate and test electrodes and transducers
  • Support and train the research team and students in performing the work.
  • Actively participate in team activities and engage collaboratively with the team.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports to internal and external funding bodies.

Who We Are Looking For

You will also have:

  • Bachelor, Master or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated, applied experience and expertise in micro/nanofabrication, micro/nano characterisation particularly with MEMS devices
  • Demonstrated competence in computer-aided design
  • Experience designing photomask layouts for microfabrication

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
