Job Details

Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Medicine.

Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) is a debilitating genetic skin condition which currently has no curative treatment options. New therapies are needed for this condition to improve the structural integrity of skin by restoring type VII collagen expression. This EB Research Partnership funded project seeks to develop and assess a non-invasive strategy to restore type VII collagen expression in RDEB patient cells through the use of CRISPR gene editing delivered using a non-viral polymer vector. In order to achieve this, two animal mouse models for RDEB need to be set up at the animal facility of UCD within this project.

This is a research role where you will conduct research under the guidance of Professor Wenxin Wang

This post is to fulfil key deliverables of the project: to assist in establishing the humanized skin graft model by performing Collagen 7 quantification via western blot, qPCR, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry quantification, and assisting with surgery and care of animals when required. The successful candidate will work as part of a well-established and dynamic research team in the UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology.

Research Assistant Fixed Salary: €31,462 per annum.

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 14th of June 2024.

Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.

UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.
