Job Details

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Chemistry - Centre for BioNano Interactions (CBNI).

The Centre for BioNano Interactions (CBNI) is a leading European Centre for BioNano Interaction science, and draws together specialists from its Universities, Institutes, and companies. The centre is a multi- disciplinary platform for nanosafety, nanobiology and nanomedicine, and is pioneering many of the new techniques and approaches in the arena. CBNI seeks to set standards through commitment to excellence in research and innovation, blended with caution and attention to detail in science, and public dissemination.

The Centre requires a full-time Postdoctoral researcher. This individual will have expertise and research experience in any relevant arena of physiochemical, chemical and biophysical, engineering or related fields, especially applicable to the synthesis and characterisation of complex bionanoparticles including those partly derived from a natural environment. It will be an extra advantage if the candidate is familiar with methods to study their interaction in a biological environment. The candidate should possess advanced analytical and biophysical methods involving protein-protein and other bimolecular interactions. It is also desirable, but not essential, that candidates have experience in working with various biotechnological separation and analysis technologies, and many of the applications involve studies in complex biological milieu.

Post Doc Level 1 Salary Scale: €44,347 - €46,912 per annum.

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on the 11th of June 2024

Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 12:00 noon (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.

UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.

The PD1 position is intended for early stage researchers, either just after completion of a PhD or for someone entering a new area for the first time. If you have already completed your PD1 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD1, or you are an external applicant whose total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 4 years, you should not apply and should refer to PD2 posts instead.

Prior to application, further information (including application procedure) should be obtained from the Work at UCD website: https://www.ucd.ie/workatucd/jobs/
