SCHOOL OF NURSING
Established in 1977, the School of Nursing supports the mission of the University by nurturing graduates who are critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, lifelong learners and ethical leaders. The education, research, consultancy and integrative health services are driven by a commitment to improve health of the community. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has designated the School as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Community Health Services since December 2007. The School’s Centre of Evidence-based Practice for Health Care Policy has been a Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Affiliated Group since 2022. The School is offering a full range of nursing programmes including Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degree levels, with a total student population of about 2,500. Currently, it has a total of around 80 full-time faculty members.
Due to continuous success and increase in the number of students in postgraduate programmes and research centres of the School, there are several openings for qualified health professionals to join this dynamic and leading School of Nursing in Asia. The posts are open to local and international applicants from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds. Each appointee will be allocated to one of our research Areas of Excellence:
- Primary Health Care
- Mental Health & Psychosocial Support
- Health Aging through Innovations
- Palliative Care and Cancer Trajectory and Survivorship
Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Community and Primary Health Care / Nursing / Mental Health (several posts) (Ref. 240603006)
The appointees will be required to:
(a) teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise student projects and theses;
(b) conduct research that leads to publications in refereed journals and award of research grants;
(c) engage in applied research, creative development and consultancy projects in relation to health care related activities;
(d) contribute to the development of the School’s relevant research theme and participate in its activities;
(e) contribute to departmental activities and management;
(f) render professional service to the community and support activities that promote or foster links with the profession in the industry and/or in the community; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or his/her delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a PhD degree in Nursing or a relevant discipline with substantial years of relevant experience;
(b) professional qualifications registrable with The Nursing Council of Hong Kong;
(c) a substantial record and reputation as an accomplished teacher with significant contribution to curriculum development / review or teaching and learning processes;
(d) an established track record in research and scholarship, including refereed publications, external grants and postgraduate supervision; and
(e) demonstrated academic management and leadership capabilities.
Applicants for appointment at Professor level should demonstrate a strong background in research in one of the school research themes with an international academic profile. They should also demonstrate excellent international reputation in research and possess an excellent record of academic leadership and research scholarship, both in terms of publications and funded research. Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor / Assistant Professor. The job duty requirements and expectation would be in line with the appointed grade.

Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointments for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor and Professor levels.
