The role and about you

The University of Southampton has an in-house security service providing 24-hour cover across a number of sites and is looking for additional full time permanent security officers.

You will work on a rotating shift pattern across the week (Mon-Sun) of 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off. Although based at the Highfield Campus your duties will take you to all of our other sites patrolling on 12.5 hour shifts, so you can expect a varied and interesting work pattern.

A full, manual car Driving Licence is required, and you should also be able to demonstrate a good customer focused work record. You will also be required to spend some time within our central control room, therefore experience within this type of environment would be desirable (CCTV, alarm receiving, radio dispatch etc.).

Successful applicants without a Security Industry Authority Licence to Door Supervisor Level will be required to pass the week-long course at their own cost within 6 months of starting.

What we can offer you

We are committed to personal development and conduct regular team training as well as providing individuals the opportunity to improve themselves through a wide range of courses.

Working at the University of Southampton gives you access to a wide range of benefits in addition to our competitive rates of pay. Our core benefits include pension scheme membership; a generous annual leave allowance (supplemented by University closure days and public holidays) and excellent family leave arrangements (including maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave). All our benefits can be viewed here.

As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work. We welcome applications from candidates who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment.

Interviews for this position are expected to be held in June/July for an August start.
