We are seeking to recruit a UK based individual short-term, post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) to provide one deliverable. You will be part of a research project, named “Responsive Additive Manufacture to Overcome Natural and Attack-based disruption(RAMONA) funded through a Responsive Manufacturing research grant EP/V051040/1 from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The University of Surrey and Bristol University Business School are developing the work on resilient supply chain for additive manufacturing for the project.

Due to the short-term nature of the position, we cannot support visa applications and only those already in the UK with permission to work in the UK can be considered.

What you’ll be doing 

You will ideally have expertise in Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFS), additive manufacturing, supply chain visibility, resilient supply. The research objective for this role is to produce a paper. This includes literature review of PUFS for supply chain visibility. Then working with partners at Warwick University, understand how the PUFS they employ may be secured using a blockchain system to provide resilience in supply chains. The work is integrative across the project (AM tagged objects, cyber security, and modelling supply chain resilience), which together enables a resilient responsive additive manufacturing system to detect and respond to internal and external factors caused by malicious or natural events.

  • You will need to be skilled in literature review
  • Understand PUFS, supply chain and additive manufacture
  • Working in close collaboration with Professor Parry from Surrey, Co-I from Bristol and researchers from Warwick who have expertise in AM and cybersecurity. 
  • Work needs to be synthesised into journal articles. The specific journal will depend on your skills, but may include Supply Chain Management, Production Planning and Control, IEEE Engineering Management.
  • a published output is important both for the project and your own CV. 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

An academic with completed or close to complete their PhD. You will have knowledge of supply chain, additive manufacturing. Previous academic experience writing for and publishing in management academic journals in an applicable area of academia is essential.

The position is full time and ends 30 September 2024
