DESCRIPTION

  • Conduct research independently and under limited supervision and the production or contribution to the production of conference papers and publications for submission to high-quality refereed journals.
  • Conducted and interpreted geochemical analyses on the Hadean-Archean Zircon, including U-Pb-Hf-O isotopes, using LA-ICPMS and SIMS.
  • Conduct clean lab whole-rock non-traditional stable isotope analyses on Archean TTG samples from different cratons.
  • Design, develop, and perform thermodynamic and geochemical modeling using alphaMELTs and Perple_X to evaluate the origin of the continental crust.
  • Develop new approaches, ideas, and techniques to track Early Earth crustal evolution.
  • Attending and presenting the results at international conferences, subject to the availability of funds.
  • Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Criteria

  • PhD from a reputable university in Geology or Geochemistry or related discipline.
  • A high level of expertise in isotope geochemistry.
  • Experience writing scientific or review papers.
  • A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • The proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines.
  • Ability to train and mentor students and support fellow researchers.
  • Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel to another country, such as China and Australia, to perform some analyses.

Desired Criteria

  • Previous experience in zircon geochemical analysis and granitoid petrology.
  • PhD gained from a top 200 QS or THE ranked University.
  • High-impact first-author publications in the top 10% of journals in the relevant field.
