Research Assistant Professor in the Research Hub on Institutions of China, Faculty of Social Sciences

Duties and Responsibilities

  • work on collaborative research projects in the Social Sciences;
  • analyse large-volume textual data with machine learning algorithms;
  • analyse survey and other quantitative and qualitative data;
  • perform any other duties related to quantitative political science research as assigned.

Requirements

  • a PhD degree in Political Science or relevant fields;
  • a strong background and experience in quantitative research, especially on survey analysis, panel data analysis, machine learning, and textual data analysis;
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • preferably strong publication track record on peer-reviewed academic journals.  

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 3-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary.  Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
