The Faculty of Languages and Literatures invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) of Medieval Latin Philology
(Chair)

commencing on April 1, 2026.

The successful applicant will represent the field of Medieval Latin Philology in its entire breadth in both research and teaching, with a research focus on literary studies. They will be expected to cooperate closely with the other Latin professors in the context of Munich’s “Integrated Latin Studies”, a program devoted to covering the entire span of Latin literature from antiquity to the early modern period. In addition, they will have to be committed to interdisciplinary cooperation in joint projects, especially those of the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies Munich (ZMR), as well as activities promoting the international visibility of the department.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.
