Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking applications for this exciting opportunity to make a difference influencing current Engineering students. We are looking for a dynamic individual who will bring professional and academic experience to be part of a team dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and postgraduate supervision, as well as maintaining and developing original scholarship and research activities specifically relevant to Mechatronics Engineering.
You will teach in the field of mechatronics engineering whilst complementing existing interdisciplinary fields, lead the development of an appropriate research area, such as applied robotics, teleoperated robots, autonomous navigation, path planning, advanced control, human-robot interaction, data analysis, applied machine learning.
If you are seeking appointment at the Senior Lecturer level, you will have a record of academic leadership that includes mentorship, guidance, encouragement, and support for other academic staff in the pursuit of their academic objectives and the development of their professional careers.
The level of appointment will depend on the successful candidate's relevant skills, knowledge and experience, the salary will be in the range of Lecturer from $84,337 to $100,551 per year, Senior Lecturer salary range from $103,303 to $135,517 per year. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours) based on our Hillcrest campus.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?
You will have a broad knowledge in electrical, electronics and mechatronics engineering, with evidence of advanced/specialist knowledge in at least one field of electrical systems (battery, power electronics, electrical drives, smart grids) and/or Mechatronics design; and/or Microprocessor systems with analogue electronics.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD or be in the final stages of completion if applying at Lecturer level. You will bring a passion for, and expertise in Mechatronics ideally in battery, power electronics, electrical drives, smart grids) and/or Mechatronics design; and/or Microprocessor systems with analogue electronics.
In addition, you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding of how your research could enhance professional practice and community. If seeking the Senior Lecturer appointment you will be expected to have a research and scholarship record of excellence at a national and international level, along with demonstrated excellence in teaching and successful postgraduate supervision experience in the broad discipline of human development.
