About the Role
The Research Fellow is responsible for developing computational and methodological approaches for modern data science, working independently and collaboratively across applications and theory. Supported by funds from the ARC Future Fellowship of Professor Howard Bondell, the role focuses on creating innovative, interpretable, theoretically justified, and scalable statistical methodology for complex data.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to and publish academic papers and scholarly outputs at a high academic standard.
- Assist in the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies under the guidance of senior academics.
- Contribute to and assist in the co-supervision and training of MSc and PhD students.
- Engage with relevant professional and industry bodies to foster collaborative partnerships.
Who We Are Looking For
You will be a highly motivated and independent researcher with a strong track record of original research publications and demonstrate the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously. Additionally, you will demonstrate a strong collaborative approach with excellent communication skills and a clear commitment to professional and collegial values.
You will also have:
- Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in statistics, data science, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated capacity for outstanding research with a strong track record of original research publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
- Experience and potential to conduct research independently, showing growth in independence.
- Potential to secure funding from competitive external research granting bodies.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
