About the Role

The Research Support Officer will play a vital role in implementing the Melbourne School of Health Sciences Research Strategy, working closely with the Director of Research and project groups. Responsibilities include providing executive support, conducting research, data analysis, and facilitating seamless support for events and communications. The role demands dynamic prioritisation skills and adaptability, with the appointee expected to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across the Parkville campus and potentially other MSHS sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high-quality research support to the Director of Research to further the ongoing development of the MSHS Research Strategic Plan 
  • Contribute to the preparation of strategic and operational planning for Research Strategy development activities
  • Identify, develop, and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support strategic activities
  • Establish processes and procedures to coordinate the workflow of the Research Strategic Planning project and actively contribute to ongoing administrative process improvement initiatives within the Department and School 

Who We Are Looking For

You will excel in this role if you demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills, alongside strong interpersonal abilities for collaboration in multidisciplinary teams. Your capacity to work independently and collaboratively, coupled with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality, reflects a proactive approach and effective project management, emphasizing attention to detail and political acumen.

You will also have:

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training 
  • Strong research, writing and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, committee papers, agendas, presentations, and correspondence 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, including demonstrated experience in co-ordinating workflow, prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines and effectively balancing competing demands
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact positively and work co-operatively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and liaise with people from diverse backgrounds.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
