Position Summary
Dominican is seeking an experienced individual to teach an undergraduate Graphic Illustration digital art course in the fall 2024 semester. The class is taught in-person and meets Tuesday and Thursdays from 4:10 - 6:50 pm, beginning August 26, 2024 and ending December 6, 2024.


Responsibilities
  • Teach a cross-listed lower and upper division four unit course at the undergraduate level that meets the course and program learning outcomes as defined by the department
  • Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
  • Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity

    ART 1144/3144 Beginning and Advanced Graphic Illustration This course investigates the relationship between the tradition of drawing and the computer, as well as the role of illustration in graphic design. Basic principles of composition involving line, value, space, and texture are investigated through a series of projects that use both traditional media such as paper and pencil as well as computer based media such as Adobe Illustrator®, Photoshop®, and a Wacom® tablet. In ART 3144, skills and methodologies acquired in Art 1144 are further developed and applied to the context of design thinking and problem solving. Students work individually and in groups to design solutions for both fictitious and real clients and community partners from an illustration perspective.

    Required Qualifications
  • Master of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Art
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Google Suite: Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Slides
  • Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator
  • Zoom
  • Digital Camera

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Illustration, or Animation.
  • Experience teaching Illustration or Graphic Design courses at the undergraduate level
