About the Role

This dynamic position offers a unique opportunity to work with the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education (CSHE) to shape the future of teaching and learning across the University of Melbourne. As Senior Lecturer, you will design and deliver innovative programs, workshops, and resources, informed by the latest educational research. You will help foster a community of excellence among our staff, ensuring they possess the knowledge and skills to empower students to thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and seminars, including in person, online, blended and flexible delivery methods.
  • Initiating, developing and reviewing professional development programs and resources.
  • Delivering programs, assessments, and feedback to academics. Contributing to program improvement through evaluation and scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Contributing to the university community through participation in committees, projects, and professional associations to advance CSHE, the Faculty of Education, and the wider university.

Your proven record of excellence in university teaching and learning, coupled with your collaborative spirit and leadership skills allow you to expertly guide and motivating both colleagues and students. You thrive in diverse environments and excel at working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

You also have:

  • A doctoral degree completed in a relevant discipline.
  • A strong track record of teaching at the university level, with a particular talent for leading the design, coordination, and delivery of innovative and distinguished programs.
  • Proven ability to empower colleagues through professional development, streamlining program coordination, and offering specialised support to academic divisions, to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

Your New Team

The Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education (CSHE) is a leading national and international centre for higher education research. It has significant responsibility for the provision of professional development for staff in teaching and learning across the University of Melbourne.

Based within the Faculty of Education, the Melbourne CSHE supports the professional development of University of Melbourne staff through its suite of programs, activities and resources. The Senior Lecturer will make an active contribution to staff professional development by co-ordinating and teaching into award and non-award programs offered by the Centre; running seminars and workshops for staff; contributing to professional development events run by the Centre; and developing stand-alone resources for professional development. The Senior Lecturer will be expected to draw on the latest educational policy and research in the contribution to professional development programs, activities and resources. It is expected that the Senior Lecturer will undertake research in teaching and learning.
