We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for the role of Associate Professor (Education focused) Academic Quality and Compliance to provide comprehensive insight, knowledge and academic leadership in quality assurance and regulatory compliance. This role will have a particular focus on academic quality matters in relation to Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) registration/re-registration and Federal and State Government and their Departments of Education. In this continuing role, you will play a pivotal part in mitigating risks associated with regulatory matters and ensuring the University's ongoing compliance with accreditation standards. This position holds significant importance given the expanding scope of regulatory requirements, including heightened expectations for re-registration, increased inquiries from TEQSA, and the evolving landscape of legislative frameworks such as the University Accord and Support for Students legislation. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a range of senior colleagues in the Education Portfolio and faculties and be responsible for academic oversight of a risk-based quality framework to guide the University in maintaining high standards of academic quality and compliance.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide strategic academic leadership and guidance to the University Executive, Academic Board and Faculties and Schools across the University to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly in the context of registration and re-registration processes
  • provide academic leadership in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating a comprehensive risk-based quality framework to assess and address potential risks to accreditation and regulatory compliance
  • monitor and analyse regulatory developments and trends to proactively identify areas for improvement and ensure alignment with best academic practices and standards
  • collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies such as TEQSA, to address inquiries and facilitate successful outcomes related to accreditation and compliance
  • prepare reports and presentations for senior management and governing bodies to communicate the University's compliance status and risk mitigation strategies effectively
  • lead and support academic initiatives to enhance awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements and quality assurance principles among staff and stakeholders
  • stay abreast of emerging regulatory issues, legislative changes, and industry trends to inform academic decision-making and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards.

About you

The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talented academics who align to these values and who will lead our teaching and research work at the university in the years to come. You will join a dynamic, engaged group in a highly collaborative and supportive teaching and research environment.

We are looking for an Associate Professor (Education focused) Academic Quality and Compliance, who:

  • holds a Doctorate or PhD in a pertinent field, underscoring a robust theoretical and practical comprehension of academic quality and regulatory compliance within higher education and, ideally, within the Australian context
  • exhibits a remarkable capacity for collaborative leadership, serving as a senior academic leader to drive initiatives focused on enhancing educational quality and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards
  • has experience in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, with the ability to champion innovation and continuous improvement in academic practices, leveraging digital technologies where applicable.

Demonstrating a proactive approach to staying informed about emerging trends and evidence-based practices, you will:

  • provide institutional leadership for strategic changes aimed at optimizing academic quality across all teaching and learning domains
  • bring extensive experience in senior leadership roles within academic settings, demonstrating a proven ability to collaborate effectively, and
  • develop and implement strategic plans tailored to meet the evolving needs of the institution while effectively managing change processes with proficiency.
