The role

The Strategic Operations Manager plays a vital role leading key strategic initiates, deputising for the Director of International Student Recruitment, and leading on student recruitment operations.

The post holder will work with a range of internal staff and external stakeholders to forward the University’s student recruitment and marketing strategies and plans. This role will have particular focus on delivering innovations in student recruitment and delivering excellent operations for the conversion of prospective international students.

Working closely with a diverse range of high-profile key stakeholders including overseas agents, the British Council, sponsor bodies, cultural attaches, and Embassies, the post holder will develop relationships across a number of countries in order to raise the profile of the University and deliver Surrey’s ambitious targets.

The post holder is expected to have in-depth expertise in student recruitment opportunities, and should work strategically to align recruitment plans with the overall University strategy and key objectives such as student quality and diversity, in addition to the day-to-day management of Surrey’s scholarships, Study Group, and the sponsor and agent network.

About you

We’re looking for an applicant with experience working in higher education in an international recruitment role. You’ll have experience of dealing with overseas recruitment, and will possess a broad awareness of the international recruitment sector, both commercially and culturally. You’ll be confident in delivering presentations, complex projects and running events, and will be able to demonstrate good IT skills (particularly using Word, Excel, Dynamics, and email).

International travel will be expected in this post, so we require all applicants to hold a valid passport and be willing to travel.
