A great opportunity for a Digital Content Officer to join the University of Surrey’s ambitious Communications and Marketing directorate on a fixed-term basis.

Working to optimise content performance and user journeys across the University’s website in a variety of ways, you’ll be a content focused and highly organised professional, with ambition to deliver excellent digital experiences for the user.

We value, empower and support every member of staff to get the best out of your unique talents, so you’ll be rewarded with a generous salary, 32 days holiday PLUS Bank Holidays, pension contribution of 14.5%, and a unique and vibrant working environment.

Role & Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for leading the content strategy and owning the digital content channels for the University of Surrey, ensuring information is presented in a clear, accurate and engaging way to users, while following accessibility standards.

This role is pivotal to the delivery of the University’s objectives of improved online engagement with key audiences, growth in the quality and number of applicants, and a clear articulation of Surrey’s research and reputation strategy.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Own the structure of the content across the University’s digital presences, helping to determine both site and page structures from a content perspective and optimise user journeys across the site.
  • Lead the digital content on the University’s channels, taking an editorial overview of content quality and leading the content element of key projects
  • Lead the University’s web support function, setting service level agreements, defining support standards and processes, and leading the workbench approvals function for devolved content editors around the University.
  • Determine the life cycle of content, determining review points, setting metrics and KPIs, and monitoring the performance of content. Work with the wider Digital team to understand user behaviour and feedback, optimising templates and layouts based on feedback and data.
  • Develop and update training guidelines for digital content at the University, communicating best practice and acting as the main advocate for user-focused content and digital content standards across the University.
