The University of Southampton is a research-intensive University, with annual research income in excess of £120 million. The Research Information and Systems team, based in Research and Innovation Services (RIS), provides support for key research systems utilised across the University.

About the role

We are recruiting a Research Information Systems Specialist to join the Research Information and Systems team to play the lead role in managing Worktribe, our pre and post award system.

The post holder will be responsible for day-to-day management of system operations and user support. In addition, the system will require regular maintenance for security updates, as well as scheduled upgrades to deliver new features and enhanced functionality. The post holder will also be working closely with colleagues within RIS as well as other professional service providers (Finance, IT) to maximise service delivery and efficiency for the user base. Whilst Worktribe will be the main focus for the post holder, we would also expect them to provide additional support to the other systems that the team are responsible for, e.g. Pure.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic, graduate qualified (or equivalent) individual with a proven track of providing systems support or management, customer-focused service and training delivery, and problem solving.

This post is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

In return, you will benefit from working alongside a friendly and vibrant team, a healthy work/life balance with flexible working arrangements and a generous holiday allowance (30+ days) and pension.  For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Jason Milburn at
