  • Collaborate with academic staff and partners to enhance excellence in restorative sciences, delivering pre-clinical and clinical teaching within the Doctor of Dental Sciences and Bachelor of Oral Health Degree programs.
  • Lead impactful research in restorative sciences and enjoy supervising and mentoring early career academic and graduate researchers to enhance their careers.
  • Provide excellent leadership by contributing to strategic planning and reviews within a dedicated curriculum redesign team.

About the Role

The Associate Professor in Endodontics will play a pivotal role in advancing excellence in sciences Endodontics and clinical teaching within the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry Endodontics specialist program and Doctor of Dental Surgery program   Collaborating across programs, the role involves impactful research in areas including  biomaterials science, tissue repair and regeneration, supported by academic leadership, and active engagement with the Faculty Collaborative Practice Centre for ongoing development and leadership initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Convene the DCD Endodontics program.
  • Make a meaningful impact to teaching future clinicians and specialists.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in association with research teams within the Melbourne Dental School, Faculty and the University.
  • Prepare and submit research grant proposals to research funding agencies and attract research contracts from external funding sources including industry.
  • Contribute and support the development of the school’s research strategy.
  •  Contribute to curriculum design and assessment design relevant to Endodontics at entry to practice and specialist level.
  • Supervise DCD student research projects.
  • Supervise postgraduate research students.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking applicants who demonstrate leadership in professional organisations, drive engagement initiatives, and demonstrate expertise in endodontics, materials science and education innovation with an established clinical background.

You will also have:

  • A completed primary dental qualification registrable with the Dental Board of Australia, with experience working in general practice dentistry and current AHPRA registration (with no current or prior notifications) and a completed PhD in an appropriate field of expertise.
  • An internationally recognised publication record of distinction and innovation.
  • A record of success in gaining research grants and contracts.
  • Experience in clinical teaching in dentistry and demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching including the capacity to initiate course development.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
