College Profile:

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses nine departments, covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature & Linguistics and Arabic Languages, History, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Mass Communication , Psychology , Policy, Planning & Development , Statistics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences. The College also houses Master Programs which are in Environmental Sciences, Gulf Studies, and Arabic Language. In Fall 2013, CAS launched a master program in Material Sciences and a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, the College offers a Program of Arabic for Non- Native Speakers.

It is worth mentioning that as members of QU, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure intramural and extramural funding for their research ideas. Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is major source of research funding, with individual project funding limit exceeding 1 million/project (5 million exceptional projects) along with student research funding programs. As the national and largest University in the country, Qatar University is the recipient of most of QNRF awards, with many research- active faculty members able to win multiple grants.

A full-time Academic Assessment Specialist is responsible for all activities related to assessment and quality assurance. The primary responsibilities are to, supervise assessment activities, and produce assessment reports. Qualified individuals will also be involved in strategic planning and ensure the achievement of the program intended learning objectives. Applicants must have outstanding experiences in assessment activities at the higher education level. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Review and develop assessment    cycles and plans for the program
  2. Provide on-going assistance to    faculty in identifying assessment tools
  3. Coordinate with different    departments to streamline and improve assessment needs and activities
  4. Supervise assessment tools in    consultations with Faculty based on course needs
  5. Follow up on assessment    activities accordingly
  6. Disseminate and communicate    assessment results to relevant parties
  7. Promote strategies to use    assessment results for continuous improvement
  8. Work in a consultative role  with    faculty, departments and committees across disciplines
  9. Communicate effectively on    assessment processes and results to concerned parties.
  10. Prepare course evaluation    reports needed for quality assurance 
  11. Review curriculum and syllabi
  12. Contribute to the College    committees and other QU committees as required
  13. Participate in Faculty    Professional Development Program
  14. Demonstrate a strong record and background in assessment
  15. Organize own time effectively and prioritizes actions to achieve organizational goals and meet deadline
  16. Demonstrate record with analytical and numerical thinking with ability to analyze data
  17. Perform other tasks and duties    that may be required in order to meet the college objectives. 
  18. Any other tasks as assigned


  • A minimum MA or MSc. or higher degree from a well recognized university with relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • At least three (3) years' experience conducting assessment at university level
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods and practices to assess student learning outcomes at a university level 
  • Familiar with the forms and practices of assessments
  • Experience assessing courses or academic program student learning outcomes.
  • Data analysis (statistical) experience is required
