Position Overview

KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on conducting advanced research in the area of manufacturing, computational modeling, microstructural characterization, and testing of novel types of additively manufactured metamaterials for various engineering applications, with focus on lightweight and energy absorbing structures. The post-doc will work within a vibrant research team within the Khalifa University Advanced Digital & Additive Manufacturing (ADAM) center where there is access to various capabilities of digital design, computational modeling models and software, state-of-the-art testing and characterization facility, and top-notch metal, polymer, and ceramic industrial-scale 3D printers.

As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities at the ADAM Center (https://www.ku.ac.ae/adam) and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.

Position Requirements

• Experience in digital design using architected metamaterials or lattices
• Knowledge in various additive manufacturing techniques.
• Experience in mechanical testing under various loading conditions and microstructural characterization.
• Experience in finite element analysis software Abaqus and elastic-plastic-damage modeling.
• Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager
