Nature of Work:

The Assistant Professor has in-depth knowledge in education with a specialization in inclusive early childhood education, early childhood special education, and/or early childhood leadership. The typical time allocation for tenured and tenure-track faculty in the College of Education is 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% service. The teaching load for this position is typically five classes per academic year, some of which may be online, hybrid, or face to face, with the potential for additional teaching opportunities during the summer. Additionally, the faculty member will develop and refine effective teaching and assessment practices; advise students; contribute to the college reauthorization or accreditation initiatives; and participate in appropriate state, regional, and national meetings to represent UCCS.



The faculty member would be responsible for teaching, research, and service/leadership per the COE Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure Guidelines. Primary teaching and advising responsibilities will be in the Inclusive Early Childhood Education Bachelor of Arts, Inclusive Early Childhood Leadership Bachelor of Innovation™, and/or Inclusive Early Childhood Education Graduate Certificate programs. In research, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to the research profile of the department through publications and the pursuit of grants and other external sponsored program activities. and will begin at the Department and College and over time expand to the University and System.

Work Location: This position is intended to be in person, on campus. Hybrid opportunities available as coordinated with the department chair.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $65,000-$68,000 per academic year.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs offers excellent benefits, some of which include:

Tentative Search Timeline:
    Priority will be given to applications submitted by 11:59 PM on January 14, 2024. However, this posting will remain open until filled. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
    Earned doctorate in early childhood education or a related field (e.g., early childhood special education, child development, curriculum and instruction, special education, child and family studies, early childhood leadership) from a regionally accredited higher education institution At least three years of experience as a classroom teacher or interventionist serving children birth-8 years
Preferred requirements:
    At least two years of experience with distance education and technology-enhanced education At least one year of experience integrating practices centered around equity and social justice, trauma and resilience, and inclusive education
