Reference no - 016737

The UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking to recruit a Post-doctoral Researcher in Pure Mathematics, funded by the Irish Research Council. Applicants should have experience in the arithmetic aspects of the Langlands Programme and p-adic Hodge Theory. This is a temporary, 2-year-long Postdoctoral Research Fellow Level 2 post (with a possible extension by 1 year). The postdoctoral researcher will be based in the School of Mathematics and Statistics of University College Dublin, and expected to interact with other members of the research group.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the efforts of the Research Team to study the arithmetic properties of eigenvarieties about critical points. This will involve, but not limited to, an tale construction of p-adic L-functions about these points through an extensive study of the triangulation over the underlying eigenvariety. The applicant should have demonstrated a strong background in these themes.

The selection will be based on the excellence of previous scientific achievements in related themes.

This is an advanced research focused role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

Salary range: €50,539 - €54,965 per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 9th of January 2024

Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 17:00hrs (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications.

UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.

The PD2 post is intended for researchers that have completed PD1. As with the PD1, if you have already completed your PD2 stage in UCD or will soon complete a PD2, or your total Postdoctoral experience, inclusive of the duration of the advertised post, would exceed 6 years, you should not apply and should refer to Research Fellow posts instead.
